#8 - Matching Components
Earlier in my Rocket 3 building I designed some intake bellmouths that I had 3d printed in carbon reinforced nylon, they worked great, but, they were designed to work with my old exhaust and the stock throttle body diameter.
With the new pipes and the bored TBs, I need to match the intake to the exhaust and ensure I'm giving it all the air it can possibly take in by matching the diameter of the bellmouths to the new, larger, TBs.
Here's the new design. I incorporated some of the things I learned from the previous design, things like, avoid face to face connections, instead slip these over the TBs to ensure a good match at the two inner diameters. This also avoids using silicone couplers, instead using the stack itself to hold onto the TB.
Here's the outline of the drawing.
The hope is, that these will shift the torque peak circled in blue to the right about 500 RPM whilst allowing the bike to breath better from 6500-8000, and achieve something more like the blue torque curve. I'm confident it will.
